Online conference “Central and Eastern European Samizdat during the Cold War. Comparative and Transnational Perspectives” took place on 29-30 September 2021.
It was organized by the Institute of Czech Literature of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Czech Literary Bibliography and the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The aim of this two-day conference was to explore samizdat phenomenon in Central and Eastern Europe from new perspectives and in a broader context. The contributions focused on the research of former transnational contacts and flows in the field of samizdat, as well as on the contemporary comparison of various national samizdat phenomena. The conference also brought up an important topic on samizdat as a part of the European cultural heritage and the current and innovative possibilities of its research in the context and with the use of digital humanities tools.
