Doctoral candidate (PhD student) in the field of Transnational Contemporary History (m/f)
- Ref I3-080013 / R-STR-8044-40-B
- 14 months initial fixed-term contract, renewable up to 4 years
- Full-time (40 h/week)
- Student and employee status (36 months studies programme with a 12 months extension according to the thesis evaluation process)
The PhD student will be a member of the C²DH at the University of Luxembourg. He/she will work under supervision of Prof. Dr. Machteld Venken.
Your Role
- Manage and drive forward an own research project in the domain of contemporary digital public history, more specifically in migration history and / or border studies
- Attend doctoral school courses, trainings and social events
- Write scientific articles and your PhD thesis
- Disseminate your research at conferences and seminars
- Contribute to research in the field of migration history and / or border studies
- Participate in the research agenda of Prof. Dr. Machteld Venken

Your Profile
- Master’s degree or diploma in history, political sciences, sociology, anthropology, digital humanities or related
- Experience in qualitative research methods
- Language knowledge: excellent command of two of the three following languages: German, English, French. Willingness to learn the other language.
- Willingness to work in a multicultural and international environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
