Professor of history and theory of art. I act as PhD coordinator at the Doctoral School of the National University of Arts, Bucharest, where I hold research seminars for MA and PhD students on methodological approaches in the study of images. Since 1998 Academic coordinator, New Europe College-Institute for Advanced Study, Bucharest, Romania. In this capacity, coordinator (inter alia) of a series of Fellowship Programs supported by the Getty Foundation; the latest one, on on art in Romania, 1945-2000, resulted in a volume of collected studies I co-coordinated, Art in Romania between 1945-2000. An Analysis and a Reassessment from a Present-day Perspective, 2016. Publications: The European Theory of Art and Psychoanalysis, Bucharest, 2000; Recollection and Oblivion. Writings in the History of Art, Bucharest, 2005, as well as a number of edited and coedited books, studies in specialized journals, contributions to catalogs and translations. Scholarships and Fellowships: Getty Scholarship, Senior Fellow Collegium Budapest, research stages in Paris at the invitation of Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’homme and Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art, Visiting Fellow, Remarque Institute, NYU, Mellon Fellow and Short-term Fellow Wissenschafstkolleg zu Berlin.
