Dr. Jan Olaszek – senior specialist at the IPN Historical Research Office, adjunct at the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He primarily deals with the history of opposition movements in the Polish People's Republic and other Soviet bloc countries, and the history of the second publishing circulation and samizdat. He was a scholar of the Kersten Foundation, the Foundation for Polish Science and the Research Centre for East European Studies at the University of Bremen, winner of the first prize in the European Solidarity Center competition for the best master thesis on opposition in the People's Republic of Poland, winner of the "Polityka" Historical Prize and winner of the “Polityka” Science Prize in in the category of humanities. He also received 4 nominations for various historical awards. He published, among others, in “Polska 1944/45-1989”, “Przegląd Historyczny”, “Pamięć i Sprawiedliwość”, Wolność i Solidarność”, “Intermarium”, „Intefinitimos”, „Więź”, “Gazeta Wyborcza”, "Polityka", "Rzeczpospolita" and „Tygodnik Powszechny". He is author of 5 monographs (Few Extremists. Underground Solidarity in Martial Law Propaganda, Revolution of duplicators. Independent publishing movement in Poland 1976-1989, Against the Polish People's Republic. Sketches from the history of the democratic opposition, Jan Walc. Biography of the oppositionist and Underground journalism. Functions of the main information magazines of the underground Solidarity in Warsaw in the years 1981-1989), co-author of one monograph (Solidarity of Farmers 1980-1989), editor of 3 source editions and co-editor of 7 volume of studies.
