Martin Valenta (*1980) studied at Prague Charles University and at universities in Berlin, Frankfurt, Dresden, Freiburg and Düsseldorf. In 2009 he gained Remarque prize, granted by Czech-German historians board. His Ph.D. thesis of relationship between the Frankfurt School and the German 1968 movement was published in 2011 and the book was positively reviewed in research and cultural-political periodicals (in 2015 is the book translated in German). He also published studies on social and cultural history of 20. century. In the years 2012-14 he was working at the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes as a manager of three years project focused to modern interactive tools for teaching history in schools. Now he is working in this institution as a researcher. Currently (2018) is in the press his new monograph on the Czech underground movement and the music group The Plastic People of the Universe, which was connected to the opposition platform of Charter 77.
